Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and enhance our HR function within a fast-paced global logistics company. This role will oversee HR strategy, ensure compliance with Australian employment and WHS legislation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of managing both operational and high-level HR functions while fostering a culture of engagement, learning, safety, and performance excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Leadership & Strategy: Provide strategic HR leadership, aligning HR initiatives with business objectives and ensuring best practices in all HR functions.
- People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, ensuring effective collaboration and continuous professional growth.
- Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition: Oversee end-to-end recruitment, including high-volume hiring, executive search, and workforce planning to support business needs.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Provide expert advice on Australian employment law, Fair Work Act compliance, modern awards, and workplace policies. Support management with conflict resolution, grievance handling, and disciplinary actions.
- Training & Development: Develop and implement leadership and employee training programs, promoting a culture of continuous learning and career growth.
- Employee Engagement & Culture: Drive engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback mechanisms, and recognition programs to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Performance & Reward Management: Oversee performance management, goal setting, and reward programs to enhance motivation and productivity.
- HR Operations & Systems: Ensure efficient HR processes, maintain accurate HR records, and oversee HRIS implementation and reporting.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Lead DEI initiatives to build an inclusive and diverse workplace.
- Change Management & Organisational Development: Partner with senior leadership on change management strategies and initiatives to drive business transformation.
- Global Collaboration: Work closely with RHQ and HQ overseas, ensuring local HR policies align with global strategies, sharing best practices, and implementing corporate HR initiatives.
- Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) – Compliance & Culture:
- Ensure compliance with Australian WHS legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with safety officers and managers to develop, implement, and review workplace safety policies and risk management strategies.
- Support the development and delivery of WHS training programs, ensuring employees understand their rights and responsibilities under the WHS Act.
- Promote a safety-first culture, working closely with management to reduce workplace hazards and support injury prevention initiatives.
- Investigate workplace incidents, manage return-to-work processes, and liaise with Safe Work Australia or state regulatory bodies as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 7 years of HR experience, including leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law (Fair Work Act, NES, modern awards) and WHS regulations.
- Proven experience in HR strategy, talent management, and employee relations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in multinational environments and collaborating with overseas teams.
- Experience implementing HRIS systems and data-driven HR decision-making.
- WHS experience is highly regarded.
