They are actively engaged in business around the world through their extensive network of overseas offices – 120 offices operating 46 countries.
They are now seeking Utility Scale Solar Project Development Manager to join our vibrant team and work with one of the world’s largest brands – SAMSUNG.
Position Summary
The Project Development Manager will develop Samsung’s solar project portfolio across Australia through identification of suitable sites, zoning, permitting and negotiating transactional documents. This individual will also focus on leading development through forging relationships with landowners, community leaders, utilities and environmental organizations.
Essential Job Functions
- Identify and evaluate suitable sites, structure and negotiate commercial transactions with landowners
- Engage with landowners, community leaders and environmental organizations to provide information throughout the development process
- Manage development activities of solar energy projects from feasibility to the start of construction
- Develop, advance, and manage development of existing or new utility scale solar projects including land, permitting, interconnection, community relations, stakeholder management and all related budgets
- Manage the zoning, permitting, land rights entitlements and compliance processes
- Coordinate third-party engineering and environmental consultants to obtain required studies and surveys in support of real estate title and discretionary permit applications
- Develop viable and economically sustainable new and existing solar projects
- Develop target scope of work and ensure projects are progressing on schedule and within budget
- Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in Australia and the national industry trends impacting the future of solar and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
- Maintain a strong understanding of the regulatory and policy environments for assigned market(s)
- Work closely with different internal teams to develop utility scale solar projects (engineering, project management, transaction and legal)
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes
- Maintain clear and concise communication with and reporting to Samsung’s management team on all development activities, risks and constraints throughout the pre-construction development phase.
- Foster and maintain key business and government customer relationships while also identifying and expanding key development partnerships in local communities, with potential partners, corporate buyers, etc.
- Carry out other duties as assigned
Requirements
- General understanding of land lease/purchase agreement and negotiation skills
- Skilled in project management with the ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks
- General understanding of renewable energy market trends and the resulting impacts on solar project development
- Knowledge of interconnection, permitting, real estate, state/federal regulation, policy and other issues that impact the development of renewable energy projects
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively individually as well as with a team
- Ability to thrive in quickly changing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication, project planning and execution, time management, and problem solving skills required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Experience
- Over 3~5 years of project development related experience preferably in solar, renewables energy, or real estate development sector
