Job Overview

Our client is a well-established and innovative industry leader in mobile device accessories and repairs, with over 25 years of experience and more than 50 retail stores across Australia and New Zealand. Known for their quality repair services and forward-thinking approach, they are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Buying Officer to join their Product Team at their Auburn head office.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Supplier Relationships
    Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to get the best deals.
  • Purchase Smartphone & Tablet Parts
    Order parts like screens, batteries, and components based on inventory needs, forecasts, and promotions. Create and track purchase orders using NetSuite.
  • Control Costs
    Monitor pricing, exchange rates, shipping, and other costs to stay within budget. Look for ways to reduce costs and move slow-selling stock.
  • Ensure Product Quality
    Test parts to meet quality standards. Work with suppliers to fix any issues with faulty or non-compliant items.
  • Oversee Inventory
    Keep accurate stock records using NetSuite. Work with the warehouse and use tools like Netstock to avoid overstocking or shortages.
  • Stay Updated on Market Trends
    Keep up with the latest mobile tech trends and competitor pricing. Suggest new parts or suppliers when needed.
  • Maintain Documentation & Reports
    Keep records of all purchases, agreements, and deliveries. Prepare reports on inventory and procurement performance.
  • Follow Compliance & Minimise Risks
    Ensure all purchasing activities follow company policies and legal standards. Identify and reduce supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate Across Teams
    Work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to align sourcing with business needs.

 

Requirements:

  • A strong interest in smartphones, tablets, and device repairs (training provided).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, especially pivot tables, is desirable (training provided).
  • Experience with ERP systems like NetSuite and inventory tools like Netstock is a bonus.
  • A team player with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
